MALE BREAST CANCER
Male breast cancer cases contributed to 2.77 % of all breast cancer cases in the country according to the ‘Consolidated Report of Population Based Cancer Registries’ by Indian Council of Medical Research.
Like breast cancer in women, male breast cancer is the uncontrolled growth of the cells of this breast tissue. Anyone who has breast tissue is at a risk for developing breast cancer.
It happens most often to men between the ages of 60 and 70, although the condition can develop in men of any age. Breast cancer is 100 times more common in women than in men.

Causes of cancer of the male breast have not been fully characterized, but both environmental influences and inherited factors play a role in its development.
Breast cancer in men usually causes a lump or mass in the left breast.
Risk factors include:
–Exposure to ionizing radiation has been associated with an increased risk of developing male breast cancer.
–High levels of estrogen also can increase the risk for development of male breast cancer.
— Male breast cancers occur often between the ages of 60 and 70.
Signs & symptoms:
Like most diseases, male breast cancer has some symptoms and signs that are more common than others:
-You can see that a breast lump and changes in the nipple.
-Serosanguinous or bloody nipple discharge is unusual.
-Ulceration of the nipple or skin.
-Fixation to skin or underlying muscle.
-Tumor tenderness and palpable axillary nodes.
-Sores on the nipple and areola (the small ring of color around the center of the nipple)
